An Evening in the country
Mike and I were sitting outside last evening before it got dark discussing the day ( I had gone to Angelo job hunting) watching the birds eat from the feeder. When all of a sudden I saw a dark spot to my left about the size of an apple, and it moved from the bushes thru the grass to the other side where bushes were. Then I saw it again come the other way and stop under the bird feeder, turns out it was two or three different mice. Then the Quail would run out from cover and grab a few seeds and run to the other side as well. Then the red birds and the little finch looking birds all took their turns. Buck stands out there waiting every night for the mouse (or rat as Mike calls it) comes by. It's so dry here, the USDA has told us not to plant until we have some moisture. The quail all have pleanty of cover and food (they are fat, fat, fat) Plus they eat what the birds drop and what the deer don't eat of the corn. Mike filled his deer feeders with the ramaining corn he had left in the barn. We bought lots of corn when I was working. Anyway.....the quail and Rabbits eat it. Mike said he went outside to secure everything for the night last night and there was this scratching sound. He walked over to a barrel he cut length wise and puts corn in for the deer that come up to the house. In the barrel was a little rabbit. Mike just walked away and let him eat. Then as he was coming in he called me to the door and showed me a red fox running down our dirt road. It was so great to see the critters up and moving. Well gotta run. Still haven't heard on the two jobs yet Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
Hi Oma,
Yep, the cities have their concrete masterpieces to attract people like moths to a flame, but the sights that you can see in the country, just can't be beat, when it comes to satisfaction for the soul.
I lived in Austin for a while, years ago, but I would never consider doing that again. The cities can't offer the one thing that I have to have to be happy, and that's a feeling of being a part of the natural world, which you so clearly described in your post.
Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
