Hi all,
I've searched a couple of threads re. glaucoma and budesonide. I am presently on one budesonide per day, but apparently have slight optical hypertension which can be a trigger for glaucoma.
Budesonide is contraindicated for glaucoma (*sigh*), but I was wondering:
1. To what extent would one tab per day impact eye pressure? (I had assumed that I might take the budesonide for an extended period as long as my body seems to need it).
2. If the budesonide is stopped, and if it is a trigger, could the eye pressure go back down (hopefully before any damage is done to the optic nerves)?
Indebted to you.
Cheers
Paul

I took 3 mg budesinide for almost 2 years, weaning off the last 3-4 months. I also have Sjogrens Syndrome and see an eye specialist twice a year. My ocular pressure started to go up and I was put on glaucoma watch. I also have a genetic risk for proliferative glaucoma. I’ve been off budesinide for most of the past 5 years and my ocular pressure has stabilized. I would be leary of higher doses of budesinide long term and definitely don’t want to have to start taking it again.
