Hi everyone,
I was just sent an article regarding this gluten tester named Nima. It looks pretty cool. You simply take a small amount of food and put it into a disposable cup for the tester, which then determines if it contains any gluten. Although I do eat mainly whole foods, but I can see this coming in handy if I'm traveling or in a situation where I am trying something that someone made but are unsure of the gluten contents.
I don't know if anyone has shared this before, but I figured I would let everyone know.

Very interesting!
Today, I read an article in USA Today (link below), with the results of a study that discovered gluten was found in 32% of food labeled "gluten free". In this study, they used the Nima portable gluten tester that you describe.
This is why most of us with Microscopic Colitis get nervous about the challenge of eating out at restaurants!

My thoughts on this:
This is probably a very helpful product, if you absolutely have to eat out. But in the long run, the relatively high percentage of positive results (foods that actually contain gluten) are just going to prove to you that what we recommend is true . . . If you want to reach complete remission and stay there, don't eat out.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Re: nima
Good to know. Do you think that it is as accurate as the mfg. claims?grhandlan@comcast.net wrote:I have one. It is very helpful when I travel......
