Vitamin C
Just started periodontal work. It suggests taking Vitamin C. Presently I just take Vitamin D. Looking for suggestions and comments about adding this supplement. I really want this work to help my gingivitis. Any advice or suggestions appreciated.
Hi Zoey,
Bear in mind that we're all different, but as a rule, our tolerance of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) depends mostly on whether or not we're in stable remission and our intestines have sufficiently healed. Virtually all of us cannot tolerate much of it when we're reacting, but we seem to be fine with it after we've been in remission for a while. When we're at an in-between stage, we can usually tolerate some of it, but larger amounts may cause temporary D.
Unless you never achieved remission, after four years on the diet, you should be fine with vitamin C. I don't know how much you're considering, but if it's a huge dose, you might try a day of so of taking around 1,000 mg or so to test it. If you can drink a 7-UP, or a glass of lemonade, or eat an orange, you shouldn't have any problem with it.
I hope this helps.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I'm not much of an authority on specific brands. I just use this one:

Someone else may have a better recommendation.
