Question About Supplement

Post by Frances »

Hello, Everyone,

Just wanted to know if anyone here has heard of or used zinc carnosine as a supplement? I tried searching the archives, but didn't find anything. I have MC-C and GERD. Just curious, as it sounds almost too good to be true.

Thanks,
Frances

Hi Francis,

Here's a quote from the abstract of an article in the medical journal Gut, titled "Zinc carnosine, a health food supplement that stabilises small bowel integrity and stimulates gut repair processes"
Zinc carnosine (ZnC) is a health food product claimed to possess health‐promoting and gastrointestinal supportive activity. Scientific evidence underlying these claims is, however, limited.
The conclusion of the abstract is:
ZnC, at concentrations likely to be found in the gut lumen, stabilises gut mucosa. Further studies are warranted.
It may have potential, but I have no idea how well it works. Ive never taken it, and I'm not sure if any other members here have. If they have tried it, hopefully they will see your post and respond.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks for the info, Tex. I'll look into it and let you all know if I come up with anything. I may even try it, but first I may run it by the doctor(s) since I am trying to work with them on this. Still, I'm finding more and more, as I'm sure everyone has, that my recovery is pretty much up to me.

Again, thank you!
