Fosamax

Post by dhouts »

Several years ago, after being diagnosed with osteoporosis, I was advised not to use fosamax because of the side effects. I'm glad that I took the advise of my friend, who is a D.O., despite my doctor urging me to take it. Here is the latest article about the drug: https://abc11.com/supreme-court-blocks- ... -/5309000/

Several years ago my doc wanted me to take Fosomax and I said no. I had read too much about it from users who complained of joint pain and other side effects. Even the FDA had warnings. Sometimes their pain would not go away after discontinuation of the drug. A good friend called me and complained of her pain in getting out of bed in the morning in her legs and feet. I asked her what she was taking and she said, Fosomax. I encouraged her to stop taking it. She did and her pain ceased.

I had been diagnosed with osteopenia when the Fosomax was recommended. Instead, I upped my calcium and D, unaware of my need for magnesium as this was pre-MC for me. Of course, now I take magnesium and stopped the calcium. My bone density tests have not changed since my initial diagnosis of osteopenia.
