Hi Dorothy,

FWIW, I agree with Julie. Many (most) of us have a problem with fruit when we are reacting. Fructose (the main sugar in fruit) has to be digested by the liver. It's so difficult to digest, that for many of us, it passes mostly undigested into the colon, where it's fermented by bacteria, resulting in gas, cramps, and diarrhea. Some of us can tolerate moderate amounts of fruit, while others can tolerate very little. After we're in remission, most of us can handle fruit again, but while we're reacting, it tends to be a problem. Some of us even react to bananas.

that thread.

PS. Dorothy--no fruit when we have WD unless it is banana. It is too sugary for us until we get into remission.
