No Spots......I don't remember all they did, I was pretty sick at the time and real worried. And I was told I had a milder version. Altho it didn't feel that way. They told us when we moved there to work (1yr) that there were various forms of valley Fever. It effects different people different ways. It effected our whole crew with symptoms of the flu and severe *D* Fever, all that stuff. Our crew had several people missing at any given time for about three weeks. Myself and One of the guys on the crew that had been sick also, had to go back to the doctor because the one symptom that we both kept and couldn't rid ourselves of was the *D* His doctor did the same tests for the *D* that mine did and both concluded that we had something else goning on and sent us to G.I. Doctors. His results came back Ulcerative colitis real severe and Mine came back MC. They wanted to give him a colostomy and he asked my advice. I told him to go get a second opinion. He did, and as of two years ago when he called me, he said he had it all under control with no colostomy. I had no energy and felt depressed somewhat, I felt as if I had a fever all the time when I didn't, and I lost 36 lbs in a matter of 29 days. I was scared.
I had One Person at the time I was diagnosed with the MC, suggest that the valley fever may have been the start of the MC. But I had no proof of it. We were told to wash our hands all the time because the virus for the fever was no more thatn 6 in below the surface of the dirt. And also that almost everyone sooner or later that moves to AZ gets a form of the fever. Some had no energy and that was all, some had flu like symtoms , there was a varaity of symptoms Barb. My GI actually suspected colon cancer til she did the colonoscopy. Wish I could help more Barb Love Oma

Wow! Oma,

I sure does appear that the valley fever caused your MC. Thanks for posting that.

I don't believe I'll be going to Arizona. LOL.

Thanks OMA------went home in 04 and ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks---first VF---then operation to get biopsies of my lungs(cus they were covered with spots)--then NO VF-----it was a very weird pneumonia--and I wasnt feeling sick~~~~Xcept for 1 day which felt like a 24 hour bug~~~~
Never really heard what other symptons people had and to this day I still get crazy when I come to AZ!!!
They finally termed it AFOP---acute fibrnous organized pneumonia!!
figure that out~~~ all I know is the *fungi* meds they gave me(before finding out it wasnt VF) was a killer!!!

I do have some scarring on left lung---and this fratured me---the GP here said a simple blood test would have detected VF!!
Guess NY was like *HUH*!!!

Sorry all U guys that heard this story a zillion times- --thanks for your patience if U read it again---

luve Barbara

PLUS I think this VF,when it strikes the native Arizonians, its like a bad flu to them---their immune system can fight it~~~~~

OMA---U dont have to be near dirt!!!!!!

There are these teensy weensy SPORES that float thur the air----and U dont see them but U can inhale them----

There was a big article in the paper---week back---that due to the rainless season----( the rain helps hold down the SPORES)--the VF epidemic increased--specially in children---

And the increased building(dust blowing all around the place) is another additive to VF--

Next year---ALAska

Spores are bad news, all right. Anthrax is another disease that is spread by spores. Every time we have a major drought in SW Texas, there is a big die-off of deer, and any cattle that aren't vaccinated against anthrax, because the spores come out of the ground when it gets dry enough.

That makes sense now......I remember now that they said it was spread thru spores but that it starts out beneath the dirt in places.
Tex is right about the Anthrax spores. I wonder how many deer died this year from it. Love Oma
