Ski Bum

Post by JJ »

OK...I have decided that I want to become a ski bum...just kidding....today was sunny and beautiful...warm...snow was a little soft, but ski-able. It was so much fun horsing around with the other adults...I am so glad I decided not to quit. Even if I decide to go ahead and do some sort of ski program for my school, I would never have as much fun as I do with my old group of friends from Vashon. They are a hoot! We had our race day today, so we are done except for our Awards Night. I am taking a group from my school up next Saturday, and may meet some Vashon people up there next Sunday. I have to try to use up my comp lift coupons...they are only good for this year. After next weekend, I can go up and ski without kids! OK, back to reality....I need to think about lesson plans for tomorrow...it is still sad to for me to be at work, but skiing has been a life saver for me. I know now why people say that exercise is good for depression.....it works! Nite nite....JJ

Jill------sounds like a good time--

and without a doubt, Xercizing does wonders for depression--@ home I usually do low impact xercising--- weights also---2 lbs. each one--

Lou has also showed me some things I can do--

BUT the best has been here in AZ.---the TaiChi and Yoga makes me feel terrific----and I am hoping to continue when I get home--
The issue being--I am the kinda person that needs a *PUSH* and here,in AZ, I have CARMEN the PUSHER  she wont let me be IDLE!!!

When I get home, my girlfriends daughter said she would luv to go with me~~~~ and if she doesnt---Lou will *shove* me in the car to make sure I get to these lessons--

have a good day

I know you will continue to exercise....it is wonderful having a workout buddy though, isn't it. I need to get my neighbor to get out and walk with me. She is very depressed and I am too...when skiing ends, I will need to find another form of exercise...one that is free.

I went to my PCP this afternoon....she gave me Lexapro in addition to the Wellbutrin and Xanax...gosh...I sound like a druggy. Has anyone here ever taken Lexapro? I will start out with 1/2 tab before bedtime, and then after 4 days, up it to a whole one. I am glad to have more med support...I am still way too emotional and have to hang in there...I can't fall apart now...the kids need me at school. I get my contract next Monday and I am really, really afraid.

I want to have coffee with my land lord over my spring break...will discuss having International students living here with me. Rent is my biggest expense and if I can take care of that problem, I will be in better shape financially.

I am also considering offering afterschool arts and crafts classes for kids...I may be able to make $ that way too. Anyway....It will turn-out OK...just makes me sick with worry until I figure it all out. Things could be worse..I need to remember that. Thanks for letting me rant....JJ

I tried Lexapro, it didn't work for me. My doc has me on Wellbutrin & Effexor. That mix did the trick for me.

I also purchased an OTT-Lite for work. It simulates natural sunlight and in our neck of the woods we can certainly use more SUN. That helps my mood a lot during winter. You don't need a fancy one. Mine was only 40.00 or 50.00. Now, we have three at home too!

Hugs to you , Ms. Ski Bunny!

Hi Jill,

Sorry to hear about the nagging D problem. Have you tried increasing your dosage rate? I really don't believe that two per week is enough to allow your body to get back on track, especially as long as you're still feeling stressed.

Hi Tex...The doc put me on 3 per week....I need to consult with him if things don't improve. Today was better....no running out of my class...LOL, today the senior class advisor asked me to go on a river rafting trip with the seniors....it will be in early June....I will have to wear a wet suit.....yikes.....hope the D is under control by then! Didn't someone share a wet suit story a while back? TTFN...JJ

Jill,

Surely your doctor is aware that three per week is one-seventh of the regular dose of three per day. He or she is pretty conservative, to say the least. LOL.

Seems like I do recall reading about a wet suit episode, at some point in the past. I don't recall who posted it, though, or if it was even MC-related, but it probably was.

If your doctor will allow you to up the dosage rate to a level that actually works, you should be able to share in that rafting adventure, without becoming too "adventurous". LOL.
