Egg sensitivity but can have the yolk??

I was just reading over the MC Guidelines for Food Choices pamphlet and it says :"and almost half of the MC patients who have chronic symptoms are sensitive to eggs (the albumen or egg white)." Does this mean, those who show sensitive to "eggs" can have the yolk?? (I would be very happy if I could. :-) )

Yes, that's correct. If you can remove the yolk without any contamination from the albumen, the yolk should be safe for most of us. You may also be able to eat duck eggs (including the albumen), turkey eggs, goose eggs. quail eggs. etc.

Tex, this is great news! Do you feel that hard boiling the eggs then separating the white from the yolk would be contamination free? Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find anything but chicken eggs by me. :sad:

I would guess that should work OK. It would probably work better than trying to separate them when raw.

I cannot eat chicken eggs. I've never tried separating the eggs from the yolk. I did try eating duck eggs and I had a reaction. We each have to experiment on ourselves to figure out what works and what doesn't work.

Thanks Tex, I will give it a try down the road. I've hit a glitch in my road to healing. In reading through past posts I'm wondering if gluten is hiding in my life. I have not been as through checking my shampoos/lotions/makeup/toothpaste.... I was seeing some progress but now, not so much. Could be allergies too. Could be the small amounts of spices I've had occasionally. Could be the sweet potato chips are to crisp. Could be I'm eating pork and beef (both showed a +1 sensitivity) too often.....sigh. Time to rein myself in and try to make some true progress! And do some research about my skin care products!

One more question: I sometimes have a feeling of pressure? fullness? under my ribs, left side. I'm wondering if it's my descending colon, or my spleen. My platelet count came back as critical low and although I've shown as having low platelets before it's been due to the platelets clotting but this is too low. Dr. Google suggests that an inflamed spleen could cause low platelets. I am being re-tested Monday but I'm curious if you have any thoughts? :grin:

Hi Karen,

I'm not familiar with spleen issues. All I know is that the spleen is used to store the body's extra blood until it's needed (to maintain the proper blood volume in circulation), and to filter out old red blood cells. The only related problem I've ever had was high platelet count following surgery that included blood transfusions. But fortunately my platelet count turned around and went back down on it's own before we had to try to intervene.

Gas pockets in the colon could cause that feeling of fullness, but it's not impossible that your spleen could be enlarged and/or infected. I suppose a scan would be necessary to verify that. Good luck with the tests. Hopefully the results will show everything to be OK.
