Update on first colonoscopy after being diagnosed.

Hi all,

I was diagnosed in June of 2014 with Lymphocytic colitis. That is when I found this board, which has saved my life!! I wanted to post my results of this colonoscopy (my first since being diagnosed). I hope it will give hope to anyone suffering from this disease. Firstly, when I went in he asked me how I’d been coping and I told him about this board and he said he knew about Wayne and I asked him if he would read his book if I sent it to him and he said yes he would. I told him I’d been GF and DF. He proceeded to tell me that they had finally came out and said this is an autoimmune disease. I said I knew that from our board.

Anyhoo, I got my report back and the colon showed no evidence of lymphocytic/microscopic colitis which is certainly in remission. I had no polyps, which I did have some 5 yrs ago.

He talked to me about starting the fiber supplementation with Konsyl powder (1 TBLS) mixed in 8-10 oz of juice or water every morning. He said Konsyl is one of the best fiber supplements because this has more grams of water soluble fiber per serving. It is sugar free, gf and free of hormones, antibiotics & artificial sweeteners.

I do have diverticulosis and have had some discomfort from that. I’m glad he could tell me that was what was causing my discomfort. He feels like the Konsyl will help with that also.


I don’t feel like I need to take extra clothes out anymore as long as I watch what I eat, I cannot go hog wild and always always have in the back of my mind Be Watchful!!!! Also, I’m blessed because I love wine and don’t have any problems with it.

Thank you for such a great update. I'll try to remember to move it to the "Member Success Stories" after a few days.

You've obviously done a great job of sticking to a safe diet, if your biopsies show that you've completely healed. Incidentally, I have a hunch that polyps in the colon are caused by vitamin D deficiency.

Hi, Connie. Thanks for sharing your great report! I've been putting off my 5 year post-diagnosis colonoscopy and you give me hope that it won't cause a flare. My primary care doctor would like me to schedule it. I hope your good health continues!
