I have not seen this topic posted, so I may be the first. I take Cholestyramine per Polly's advice. She's been helpful. Sometimes I feel I don't have MC, but I do, along with brain fog. I still maintain my Magnesium and Vit D. Y'all say it helps and I'll do whatever to maintain good health.
I was running low on Magnesium, so I got my husband to get me Spring Valley Magnesium. He got Magnesium Citrate. I took 400mg. I started having extreme diarrhea. I know Magnesium relaxes everything. After several days of Magnesium Citrate, I figured out that was the reason I developed diarrhea. I eliminated everything but continued to be sick. Eventually, the diarrhea stopped. I continue taking 200mg of Vit D.
I figured Magnesium was the culprit. Not food. I decreased my dosage to 250mg, plain Magnesium.
Now I have painful leg cramps. I feel like somebody has broken one leg and cracked my other leg's knee cap. I am in PAIN!!!!!!!!! I can barely walk. OUCH!
Has anyone had the same problem with Magnesium or Vit D on a daily basis? I'm in EXTREME PAIN! HELP!
Any help appreciated. Thanks, Dorothy

Hi Dorothy,
Magnesium Citrate (especially in larger doses) can act as a laxative. Magnesium oxide (found in most multivitamins) is also a laxative. That's why we always recommend magnesium glycinate.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
