Hi Carol,

Jessica's suggestion certainly might pinpoint the problem. Another thing to consider is magnesium. When I suddenly had a high blood pressure problem a few years ago it was due to a serious magnesium deficiency. Increasing (doubling to tripling) my magnesium treatment resolved the problem in a few days. I don't remember whether you're taking budesonide, but if you are, budesonide causes elevated blood pressure.

Great answer Tex! I always forget about the deficiencies. I've tested pretty low for B12 and very low for Vitamin D. Plus, my HS CRP is always elevated. I've found my blood pressure is always higher when I'm flaring. When I'm in remission, it goes back down to normal.

Jessica & Tex,
Thanks for the ideas. I'll keep working on the water because I do know that is something I'm bad about. The magnesium could be a big part of the high BP. I've been worried for a long time that I'm not getting the nutrients I need, especially mag. & vit D, but haven't found a way to get the mag. into my system without more WD. I had been in a flare for the last couple of months, but am feeling much better at this point, so I'll try small amounts of Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil and Epsom salts again.

Another question - I've been eating just meat, meat broth, rice. I ate banana until a few weeks ago. After being without any variety for so long, how do you ever get your body to accept anything else? Now that I've been without banana for awhile my body will not let me have it. Yesterday I had 1/4 banana. Just had 1 extra episode of WD. Today had 1/4 banana - had 1-2 extra episodes, plus serious stomach cramps for an hour or so. The other day I tried 2 tablespoons of sweet potato. 6 hours later one episode of WD. So I'm wondering if you just have to fight through to get back on any food or if I'm just out of luck since I restricted myself for so long.

Thanks again. Sure appreciate all the help.

You might be especially sensitive to the amount of fiber in your diet. Both banana and sweet potato contain a fair amount of fiber. That does seem unusual, though. Most of us can handle small to moderate amounts of them with no problem. Are you sure they didn't cause WD when you ate them previously? Or looking at it another way, was your bathroom pattern improved to any degree when you cut them out of your diet?

Edit: Quantum Energetics, not Quantitative.

When I cut banana and wine out, it did not improve anything, but, when I tried a test to see if I could eat them, it made things much worse with wine and a little worse with banana. At the beginning of the strict diet, I tried to add a few safe foods, but had no luck except with banana.

I've been thinking that, since this process is going to take a good long time, I should try harder to add just a few other safe foods. After 4 days of 1/4 banana each day, I'm pretty sure it is going to work. I'm very excited about that!

The last week things seemed to have changed significantly. I'm in a better place. I really don't know what caused it, but I have started having frequent adjustments made by my Quantitative Energetics practitioner. (QE is an alternative energy therapy - I would compare it to accupuncture, but not sure the experts would make that comparison.) I had been meeting with a practitioner every other month, but we have one in our area now so I will meet with her more often. It feels like it is helping a lot. May be that my body was just ready for some energy adjusting.

This coming week, I will experiment with Epsom salts and Ancient Minerals mag oil again. Two weeks ago I was terrified of putting the wrong thing in my mouth or on my skin and look at me now:) Of course, we all know that it can all change in a split second (and who knows why!)

Thankful for this group,
Carol C
