My cc is fairly well under control using entocort but at the onset of a relapse I had
the symptom that has occurred before: burps. These are not gerd related, just
dry burps. The doctors refuse to acknowledge that there's a connection with my
colitis, but I'm convinced there is. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd love to
know of a treatment!

Hi,
Welcome to the group. Most doctors have a rather near-sighted view of MC. If a cause or effect isn't spelled out for them in the medical literature, they can't, or more accurately, aren't willing, to figure it out on their own. They go strictly by the book, and the book, in this case, is woefully inadequate. Your opinion is probably correct — the excessive burping is probably caused by the compromised digestion caused by MC. The partially-digested food attracts opportunistic bacteria which then generate the excess gas as a byproduct of fermenting part of the food.
It takes a while to heal the gut so that digestion improves, but limiting your intake of carbohydrates (especially grains and cruciferous vegetables) will limit the poor digestion, thereby reducing the fermentation process, and cutting down on the gas production.
My experience due to the gas was just the opposite — I couldn't belch. And that caused gas pockets to build up in my intestines, resulting in significant bloating and often severe pain. In fact, the gastroenterologist even noted in his report describing my colonoscopy that my colon was much more voluminous that a normal colon, meaning that it had a much larger diameter and was longer (due to the stretching).
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
