Hemorrhoid

Post by Zoey244 »

I have been in remission since 2015. This fall I developed hemorrhoids. My bowel movements are normal but large. I would like to try a stool softener but have worried about doing so. My diet is strict and I eat the same thing and haven’ta tried anything new. I did start taking vitamin CA due to periodontal work this summer. I still take it about 3 times per week 1000mg. Any suggestions for my go to group? Happy New Year to all.

Do you take oral magnesium glycinate? It works as a stool softener.

The stronger version would be oral magnesium citrate.

If that's not enough, as far as I'm aware, it's generally safe to take a stool softener such as Miralax, Dulcolax, etc. Eating an apple (or similar fruit) daily will often have a similar effect, by adding bulk and absorbing water A zinc-based ointment can be used to shrink inflamed hemorrhoids.

Thank you for the suggestions. I eat Applesauce daily. I also eat blueberries, I have avoided fresh fruit and vegetables. Do have a dosage recommendation for stool softener. The zinc based ointment sounds like a good idea.Maybe I should be more daring in trying or adding to my diet. This is the go to place for me. Thank you so much.

On the stool softener, you might have to experiment with the dose to find what works best, but I would just try the label recommendations first.

I eat a big apple most days (minus the peel, of course) — the biggest (usually Fugi or Braeburn) apples I can find in the store.
