I've been on one or the other for over 30 years. My neighbor told me that Levothyroxine does not work for him and gives him heart problems, so he switched to Synthroid and is doing much better. Do any of you have any insight into this?

Thank you Tex. It seems to me that I tried Armour a few years ago, but for whatever reason it didn't work for me. May be I'll do like my neighbor and go back on Synthroid. Have a feeling I'll have to pay more, but that's OK.

I took Synthroid from 2002 until 10 days ago, when I switched to Levoxyl, another “branded” version of levothyroxine. A friend who’d switched a few years ago thought it was “mellower” and less “jarring” than Synthroid. It’s too early to tell if I agree, but there have been no adverse reactions. It’s about 1/3 the cost of Synthroid with my insurance but I don’t know if that follows for other insurance.

I'v taken Synthroid for over 20 years. There was a short period of time that I took Levothyroxine, but asked to be switched back because I did not feel as well (don't remember the symptoms at this point, just less energy probably). My doctor was also on Synthroid and said the generic did not work for her either.
