Hi Angie,
Yes, cross-contamination is a major problem. We have to avoid even trace amounts early on. After we heal (for a few years), trace amounts are still a problem, but they're usually a minor problem (not a major one) unless someone's diet is cross-contaminated regularly. Some of us are more gluten-sensitive than celiacs — early on, even a few molecules of gluten may cause us to react.
Welcome to the group, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

thank you
Tex,
Thank you for your speedy response! That was not the answer I was hoping for, but what I was afraid of!! I'm currently trying to limit my diet and keep a food diary. I've finally decided to give up my Friday night dinner out w wine. I don't know if it it CC or the wine but I'm tired of that hour of joy ruining my Saturdays!! The forum has been helpful and I also ordered your book. I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival!!

You may be able to resume your dinners with wine after you have recovered and healed for a while.
I hope your recovery goes well.

Hi, Angie. I'm in remission for six years and cc is still an issue for me. If I am glutened when I have dinner out, the latest symptom for me is insomnia. It's difficult to enjoy an evening out when cc is in the back of my mind. I'm grateful to be doing as well as I am, but this disease still stinks!
