Hi Andrew,

Congratulations on getting your test results back - it is so much better to KNOW what you can and cannot tolerate. I am glad you are doing so well with the Entocort - it must be a relief. However, I agree with those who have already suggested that you start easing into your new diet - it takes time to learn it so the sooner you start the better.

I am so jaleous of you "only" having two intolerances to manage - wow, it's enough for a beginner no matter which way you look at it. Andrew, you will soon be a pro at managing your diet and there are plenty of substitute products out there that you can use. Try the refrigerated section of your HF store or maybe even your regular grocery store for substitute butter/margerine products - there are many on the market since soy is such a health-food item these days, thought to be better for you than cream/butter. Sigh.

You should be getting excited about the upcoming marriage and honeymoon

Love,
Karen

Got married 1/07/06 but we are taking our honeymoon later because I am an accountant and cant skip out for vacations from jan-late april so we decided to delay the honeymoon so we could break up teh wedding and honeymoon into 2 occasions... thought it would make it more special.

But yes I am definately excited about going to Mexico!

Andrew,

I'm so glad that you know what you are intolerant of now. Good detective work on your part! Who cares what your disease is called, as long as you know what it will take to feel better?

I'd recommend NOT starting the diet until May. The reason I say that is because after you've eliminated a food from your diet the reaction to it seems to be far worse than when you were eating it every day. If I eat one of my intolerances by accident, I'm very sick for 48 hours. You certainly don't want that to happen on your honeymoon! I think I might even recommend not cutting back on gluten and casein at all now. You've been eating those things all of your life, two more months won't make any difference. When you get back from Mexico, you'll be ready and eager to start. BTW, will you please eat a pizza and drink a beer for me? Polly will probably ask you to eat a grilled cheese for her. LOL

Love, Jean

Oh man I have not eaten a pizza in a long long time. It gave me such bad stomach cramps and D it was crazy! But I have not tried it while on the Entocort and I have been able to eat anything thus far with little trouble.

Hey did you know they have gluten free beers? Yeah! You can order them but I have not got all the info just yet, but supposedly gluten free beer is becoming a fad... or maybe all the people with gluten intollerances are just buying them all up since they have been deprived of beer for so long... oh how I miss Guiness!

Andrew,

Gluten free beer has come a long way in recent years, and the selection just keeps getting better and better. Here is a site with the most up-to-date date list of gluten free beer, that I am aware of:

Enjoy,

P S This is a site for women, but don't let that scare you--some of them know their beer. LOL.

Andrew,

I didn't know that you'd already given up so much. Never mind eating the pizza for me! I, too, miss the Guiness. It was one of my favorites.

I haven't tried any gluten free beers yet. Unfortunately, they are often made with other grains that I'm intolerant of. Do you know that distilled liquor and wine are OK on our diet? The only thing to watch is flavored wines or liquors, or really cheap wines that may have something added (and they don't have to label them).
