Thanks Tex and Erica for your input. I am interested in doing the topical magnesium....the Life Flo sounds good as I think I read another post that said it gets more into your system than the Ancient Minerals. I am so confused regarding the issues of having to have the right ratios of mag, d3 and calcium (plus having to hav k2, boron and?) versus the idea that the supplements that aren’t topical are a waste of money since nothing is getting through when MC is active. All this and I am trying to do the elimination diet now and in a week and a half I am going on a trip that involves a wedding and staying at a relative’s home which means toting whatever food I can eat with me...right now sticking to chicken bone broth, rice, bananas and sweet potatoes with a couple of duck eggs thrown in. I know I am mixing up topics, but I wouldn’t know how to post them. So should I just use the magnesium and forget about the rest of the supplements? And does anyone have some neat-o, o,keen-o tips for traveling while in active MC? Are we having fun yet? Thanks, Judi

If I were eating an elimination diet, I probably wouldn't worry very much about supplements. Topical magnesium and vitamin D are rather important if you need them (IOW if you're deficient), but it can be counterproductive to take all sorts of supplements if you're on an elimination diet, because they can easily prevent you from ever reaching remission if they contain an ingredient that doesn't agree with you. There's plenty of time to worry about supplements after you're in solid remission. Then you can afford to experiment with them to see if you can tolerate them OK.

Here's a link to a section devoted to traveling with MC. You should find at least a few useful suggestions somewhere in all these posts. Gabes and Gloria have done a lot of traveling while living with MC.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex, Thank you for putting my mind at ease about the supplements, and the link about traveling with MC. You are a treasure!

I've read that Doctor's Best chelated magnesium is recommended. We found and use Amazon Elements chelated magnesium which Amazon compares to Doctor's Best. Haven't had any problems, but was wondering if anyone here has used the Amazon brand and if so what's your experience?
