Questions to make sure I got it right
Hello, ok just want to make sure I got this right. I've had two hip replacements and need to take antibiotics before i go to the dentist every 6 months. I should not be taking Amoxicillin and or change to a safer brand, correct? Also once I'm in remission I test to see what foods I can tolerate. Its not like I can never have a salad again or does that depend on how I react to raw veggies? Or do I avoid raw veggie and only eat cooked rest of my life? I see this is a hit or miss type of disease from what I"m reading and these questions all depends on each individual . I'm just confused on when to avoid these foods. I believe my MC was cause by NSAIDS & HR replacement therapy. This all started after I was taking Aleve and Norco for hip pain....long story short I got MC and as you all know it's no fun :( Thanks for this forum board, I really appreciate it and yes I'm reading the book.:-)

My husband just had a right hip replacement at age 51 (it apparently runs in his family)....but from what he has experienced the antibiotic is only 2 capsules one in the morning before the procedure and one after the procedure. Based that one doesn't go to the dentist very often during a year I would think those 2 pills a couple times a year won't do that much damage in the long run. You can ask your hip surgeon if the kind we can take will work for the reason they ask it be taken for because it may not be open for discussion.
The salads....you will want to eat over cooked veggies until you get some good healing under your belt, how much time that will be is your personal journey. For me I can tolerate a little salad every couple weeks and I have healed 5 years.
Baby steps....and patience

If you don't have any infected teeth, and the Amoxicillin is strictly because of the hip surgery, and the antibiotic treatment is only two capsules, as Erica mentioned, I agree that the amoxicillin might not cause any problems. But if you are taking it longer than that, for many/most of us, amoxicillin is one of the worst choices regarding causing diarrhea, and increasing the risk of developing C. diff.
A few of us are able to eat raw salads much sooner, but for me, it took a year or more after I was in stable remission. It took a while for me to get up the nerve to even try raw vegetables after being so sick for so long.

Thank you for the warm welcome and response! I have to take 4 antibiotics an hour before dental visit to prevent infection per doctors. I suppose it’s for my own good.
So for right now I believe I’ve calmed things down. I’ve stopped the raw veggie in my AM smoothies and no salads at lunch, which was my go to. I’m real tired of chicken and rice and or any animal protein. I wanted to go vegan to be honest with you and or at least during the week. ( hubby is a meat and potato guy) so I comprise on weekends). The reason why vegan is because my LDL’s are high (145) total cholesterol is 220! It’s been lower but I’ve always seem to be struggling with it so it’s genetic and dr wants to put me on statins....ugh! No thank you!!! I use to control it better with exercise ( Bootcamp type of cardio) but those days are gone due to my new hips. Reason being I’ve dislocated the right one three times with two revisions. This last one seems to be good, some discomfort now and then.
I had this IgG food antibodies test done from Génova Diagnostics last September. I have mixed feeling about it, but I use it as a guide. It shows I have no sensitivity to most dairy, gluten and corn gluten, but it shows corn, salmon,
lobster, cod & zucchini as 2+ moderate and oat & walnuts as 3+ high. With all this I just go by how I feel after I eat it and I’m aware of what’s on this list. There are more foods it shows as 1+ low, which I did not list. I figured all these are showing up cause my stomach was inflamed and once healed I can maybe do the another test that’s more accurate.
I’m open for any suggestions on lowering cholesterol since my plant base diet might not happen lol

Reducing the serum cholesterol level with a diet high in animal fat.Abstract
Multiple food allergies required a group of seven patients with elevated serum cholesterol levels to follow a diet in which most of the calories came from beef fat. Their diets contained no sucrose, milk, or grains. They were given nutritional supplements. This is the only group of people in recent times to follow such a diet. During the study, the patients' triglyceride levels decreased from an average of 113 mg/dl to an average of 74 mg/dl; at the same time, their serum cholesterol levels fell from an average of 263 mg/dl to an average of 189 mg/dl. I had high cholesterol levels until I had MC and ate meat and well cooked veggies. I also was on statins until the MC diagnosis when I took myself off of them. 6 months later my cholesterol levels were in normal range including triglycerides even with coconut oil. So my Cardiologist said whatever I was doing keep doing it.

I usually stick to turkey and well cooked veggies for breakfast. I ate turkey and well cooked veggies for lunch (sweet potato with coconut oil) snack slightly ripe banana with unsweetened almond breeze drink. For dinner last night I had venison lamb shanks bone broth and well cooked carrots, broccoli and cauliflower made into a stew. I make a big batch of bone broth and freeze into single servings. I cook up meats ( ground lamb, venison, or pork) in single servings and freeze them. I also make a big batch of paleo muffins and freeze them too. I also make brownies from a gluten free mix. I eat enjoy life choc. chunks occasionally but I am in remission.

My family has their own area and dishes for their food. There is no wheat flour in the house. If they want cookies etc. They can buy them and put them in their cupboard.
