Found zinc, how much to take?

Post by Grahm »

I just found zinc today at our Kroger. It’s only 50 mg. I have no idea how much I should take. Thanks for any help. Stay well everyone.

Hi Connie,

FWIW, I take 50 mg of zinc daily, but my capsules also contain 2 mg of copper and a little iodine (50 mcg). In the long term, body levels of the zinc/copper ratio is more important than than the absolute amounts of zinc or copper. Authorities claim it should be around 15, ideally. That doesn't mean that any supplements should contain that ratio, however. So long as one's body ratio doesn't eventually get too far out of balance. The RDA for zinc is 8 for women, and 11 for men.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
