Anyone tried Allulose?
I was reading about this sweetener and they say...yes THEY say...that it has none of the gastro effects other things like erythritol or and of the others can give. I searched the term in the forum but didnt find it. I never heard of it till today but they sell it on Amazon. Just curious if anyone tried it, before I buy it. I cannot normally do the others like whats in sugar free candy ect.
Thanks in advance. :

I had never heard about it either, until I read your post. So I researched it a bit.
Allulose has the same chemical formula as fructose (fruit sugar). And similar to fructose, because it isn't metabolized by the body, it does not trigger an insulin response (therefore it does not raise blood sugar levels), and it's claimed to provide minimal calories. Like fructose, it's metabolized by the liver.
I think I would take the claims about having "minimal calories" with a grain of salt, though, and here's why: Since it doesn't produce an insulin response, it's impossible for the body to judge when it's had enough. When we eat table sugar (sucrose), it produces an insulin response, so we will eventually realize that we're full — we've had enough. With Allulose, we won't feel that way because it won't trigger an insulin response (IOW, we won't ever feel full, or satiated). That's exactly why the other artificial sweeteners don't work (to limit calories) for most people — they never feel satiated, so they continue to ingest way more of it than they should.
At least that's my initial impression. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
As far as I'm aware, most MC patients who react to aspertame and similar artificial sweeteners, can handle sucralose (Splenda) just fine.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Tex,
Thanks for your quick response. I appreciate the research-I did a little too. I haven’t found any negative comments anywhere about using out yellows but I figured if anybody had tried it they would’ve mentioned it on this website. I’m not too worried about eating too much because I would only be using it for see if I made a sweet thing like donuts or a cake if I was going to have one. I had a recipe for some keto donuts I wanted to try and this was part of the recipe. The stuff supposed to be granulated like sugar and some have blends that you can use so that things brown. I made a lot of disasters with artificial sugars like Splenda etc. that don’t brown and therefore the texture and taste is just not there. I might try it and see and then I can report back. I have a very sensitive system so if it doesn’t bother me it’ll probably be good for anybody. PS how do you find the time to answer every question that somebody asks LOL? Also how do I change my profile picture I have tried and tried to change it and get my phone number off there and it just won’t do it.

I have used Allulose to sweeten plain greek yogurt. I haven't baked much with it. On the back of the package it says 1.33 cups allulose sweetens like 1 cup refined sugar. I haven't noticed any reaction to it but only have purchased one 12oz package. A local bakery uses it in some of there baked goods. It is a keto and gluten free facility.

Hi Kitty,
I’m not Tex obviously but I just changed my food intolerances on my profile. If you want to make changes then you’ll need to go back to the registration page. One way to do that is to go up to the header of this page. Under the red text that talks about the Microscopic Colitis Foundation is a row of commands that starts with FAQ. Under FAQ is an icon that says Profile. When I clicked on that it took me back to my registration page and I was able to make changes. You should be able to add and delete your info from there. I did.
Make sure you hit the ‘Submit’ button at the bottom of the page, or your changes won’t stick.

changing profile
Hi Carol, I have tried numerous times to change things. I'll try again now and see if it works. If my picture is still a red and blue flag of some country I don't know, and my food intolerances show as my phone number, then try # 15 didn't work. Thanks for helping though!!
