I'm Linda Taylor-Hunt. Not new to MC. I've had it since 2017, and after many tests with my gastroenterologist, he discovered it after I had eaten some Mexican food. He used many medications to help manage it. The one that stopped the diarrhea was Welchol. Fancy that, it is also used for cholesterol. In a short amount of time, I lost 17 pounds. I am currently taking Lialda and Welchol and probiotics. My MC has been managed since my diagnosis. My recent flair up is from taking Antibiotics for a tooth removal and teeth cleaning. I've had two knee replacements and my surgeon says I have to take Antibiotics forever for any surgery or dental work. My gastroenterologist is highly knowledgeable on this subject, giving talks and seminars all over the world. Today he said anytime I need anything done, he'd like to chat with the other doctor so he can adjust my meds. Today, he also gave me more things to take to add to my "Cocktail" as I call it. The past two days, I had two accidents that I had no control over. Getting to the bathroom and then pooping either in my pants, or just getting to the bathroom and have a mess all over the floor. It's no Bueno cleaning up the mess. Today after I cleaned up, I happened to look in the mirror and noticed I had some down my leg, and I said oh shi* I missed my leg. Three years ago in all this mess, my sister and I came up with the name of Crap Sack, for when I travel. It includes TP, underwear, pants, wipes. What can I say, I'm a girl scout, and I'm always prepared. Glad to be a part of this support group.

Welcome Linda. Sorry you had to find us. You seem to have a great attitude. Have you changed your diet at all? I found that budesonide helped control my flare but it wasn't until I changed my diet that I was able to get remission. Lialda didn't work for me at all. We've all been there with the accidents. I can't tell you how many times I've had to run into the woods with explosive D. This forum is a wonderful group of supportive people.
Hello Linda,
Welcome to the group. Dental work is always tricky for us. Dentists usually prescribe amoxicillin, and it's notorious for causing diarrhea in all patients, and triggering flares for MC patients.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Linda,
Everyone here understands accidents, we’ve all had our share of them. The only way I can control my LC is by diet. I don’t take any meds. I do take Vit D, C, Metanx, zinc and magnesium. I’m Gf and Df.
Welcome aboard, you couldn’t find kinder and more helpful people then right here.
Love,
Connie
