Women Issues Needing Advice

Post by crervin »

Hi all,

I hope to find everyone well and surviving quarantine!

I have been having irregular periods for a couple of years now probably due to histamine issues. Strangely, I only have periods during the winter. During my GYN visit, my dr. prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10 mg to take for 10 days to start menstruation. She said that without menstruation the endometrial wall can thicken and cause abnormal cells to grow. She thinks that I am at pre-menopausal age.

Has anyone had any experience with this medication? Luckily, I only have to take it every 60 days. I am concerned about my colitis and messing with my hormones. My hormone levels are really good, and my colitis is doing okay now that allergy season has slowed. Does anyone have any issues like this?

I appreciate any advice you have!

I know nothing about this medication however; I have not had a period for several years (I am now 53). Not sure how old you are but after trying several medications to restart my period in my 40's I finally had a good discussion with a specialist who asked me if I was planning on getting pregnant (no), had a bone density test done that revealed my bones were comparative to a 35 year old(thanks weight training!) and finally looked at it as a blessing!

Thank you so for your response! I am almost 46, but she tested me for menopause and said I wasn't there yet. I finally took it last night. Today, I can't quit going to the bathroom with D???????. I won't be able to take this for long if I am in this shape????.

HI Martha,

With this LC hitting me at age 45 my progesterone and estrogen started swinging up and down. I decided to just let nature do its thing as no extra hormones were helping my situation. I also learned through my DNA that I was Naturally going to go thru menopause at an earlier age so at that point I didn't let it bother me.

Depending on how you feel about yourself and how the timing seems to be regarding having LC and being almost 46....I would give it thought to this being a natural response that the body is offering.

Medication and Stress do not help me what so ever....I do hope you find balance with this new milestone of life.
Hugs

Very well said Erica. I figured my body was trying to tell me something and why fight it, as long as there weren't any negative affects.

Thank you Erica for your response! I am tolerating it a little better today. But this will probably be the only time I take these. Your response makes me feel better about that! She told me that if nothing happens after taking them, then I have started going through the change. I would like to find out. She worried me about the possibility of abnormal cells. Years ago, I had abnormal cells growing on my cervix that required surgery. I definitely don't that to happen.

My hormones are doing well so far. Luckily, I have always had normal hormone levels. I am thankful for that, and so is my husband????.

You guys take care! Thanks again!
