I had another colonoscopy in Feb and it took 6 months to meet with doctor to go over results. I was diagnosed with LC 5 years ago and now have both CC and LC. Was not having problems with diarrhea but bloating and some constipation. Doctor put me on budesonide extended relief 9 mg and told me to go gluten-free. Was on budesonide (not extended release) a few years ago and didn't experience such headaches. Anyway, having horrible headaches, stomach ache, and indigestion. Doc told me I would be on this budesonide for a long time but was not even feeling that bad - with not tapering off plan. I am going to ask for 6 mg and ask to taper off. Definitely giving the gluten free a try and dairy. Sometimes I think we need to do what is best for ourselves - hard to get time with doctors.

The product you are using is presumably Uceris, a product labeled for ulcrative colitis. It's only available in 9 mg capsules. If you are using another brand, then the problem that's causing your headache is probably one of the inactive ingredients. Inactive ingredients vary by brand. So switching to the original Uceris brand might eliminate the problem. Most members here who have tried Uceris have found that it woks well for them, with minimal or no side effects.
That said, I agree that the best way to go is to carefully follow the diet. Most of us find that even if budesonide works, 85 % of MC patients relapse if/when the budesonide treatment is ended. Using the diet usually eliminates having to take a medication for the rest of our lives.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
