Hi Sarah,

Gabes hasn't posted in a few months, so I'll try to respond to your question. That sounds like a good product, and a good way to use it. Early on during our recovery especially, many forms of oral magnesium may cause diarrhea. But we're all different, so the only way to be sure is to just try a minimum dose and see what happens. If the label says that it can also be used on the skin (or added to bathwater), that's often a safer choice for many of us.

Thanks Tex. I’ll start with 1mL a day for a little while and see how my digestive system handles that. This brand does offer a topical version as well but I’d prefer not to have to buy another new product if I can help it. But obviously if D becomes a problem I’ll know to give that a try instead.

Thanks again,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

A product that I have been using for close to 3 years now is ReMag by Dr Carolyn Dean, she has other products as well that seem to really target the deficiencies that we all seem to garner with our colitis situations but I have stuck with the really low dose of 1/8 teasp plus sea salt in my 20oz water for months and it works in case the product you are trying doesn't seem to fit the bill. I also had my blood work done so I knew where my potassium level was and that helped me to decide I needed more potassium and sodium than what would be in the product you are beginning to use. So on that note if your body says it can't handle mag internally then there is a lotion ReMag as well and it works extremely well and is not greasy and does not smell.

We all have varying degrees of need in the mineral and vitamin supplementation department.

I wish you well on your journey

Thanks Erica for your input, I appreciate it. I did look into ReMag but it was difficult to get here in a Australia so I opted for something more local first. So far it seems to be going quite well. No negative side effects at all
