Suffering from a diverticulitis flare

I was diagnosed with diverticulosis in 2014, along with MC. This is the first time it has acted up this bad. I did ask for it, I made gazpacho last wk and ate some each day. I feel sure that’s what caused it. I was so swollen I looked pregnant and really felt lousy. I called my gastro dr and they put me on two antibiotics after listening to my symptoms and since we were headed into the wkend. I’m on ciprofloxacin and metronidazole. The medicine hasn’t bothered me at all, thankfully. I’m not as swollen but really uncomfortable in my lower stomach. I’m watching what I eat and trying to rest. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on treatments and just anything to help?

I haven't tried this with a diverticulitis flare but have with a bought of cellulitis. How about putting a heating pad on your abdomen over the area where you are uncomfortable? I was always told infection doesn't like heat.

Sorry you are going through this. I hate that type of pain and yucky feeling. Last time I had that was in 2013.

Thank you Brenda, I’ll try that. I did stay off my feet most of yesterday and I am feeling better. I think after this wk and finishing the meds I’ll get on the other side of this.
