Abdominal pain after BM
Any ideas why I would have Abdominal pain/discomfort after a bowel movement? Beforehand, there is no discomfort, just the urge to go. Afterwards, I feel achy, run down and horrible. It can last a couple of hours or all day. BMs later on in the day sometimes help me feel better but sometimes not. Thanks.

Hi Kimmie,
Welcome to the board. The urge to go after a bowel movement is common with MC. Many of us (possibly most of us) have that problem if/when our MC is active. That issue is known as tenesmus, and it will resolve as you are able to resolve the inflammation. The persistent fatigue is also typical of active MC.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thank you. I am on a low-fodmap diet which has helped already with a few symptoms. Looking forward to this one getting better as well. Really grateful for this website!
