I feel very grateful to Wayne and all those on this formum for the success that my husband has achieved following the advice here. Went from secretory explosive D to Normans and gained weight. No drugs. Just diet -- although he did start taking basic supplements after a number of weeks once the BMs got firmer.
It was all a matter of eliminating foods and figuring out what he could eat and what not. What delayed the healing was that he was eating turkey a lot. I had assumed that because so many people can tolerate that he could too. But no. It gave him secretory diarrhea -- and we were confined that it was either some other food causing this or that we just needed to give it more time. Also, he couldn't take carrots! Nor green beans. And many other foods.
Bottom line, here's what worked for my husband, in case anyone is interested:
1. He eliminated all meats except: lamb, venison, and elk.
2. Eliminated all fish except: perch and halibut.
3. Eliminated all veggies except: zucchini, celery, and radish (daikon).
4. Eliminated all carbs except: white rice, green plantain, and yams/sweet potato.
5. He is able to have green jasmine tea, ginger cooked in food, and a tiny bit of salt. Also able to have pure olive oil in quantity.
6. Beef doesn't cause him diarrhea -- but it causes terrible gas. Just as Wayne said it does for him. So that is out.
Husband started to improve very quickly after going on the diet above. And, as Wayne has told us, the weight would naturally come on once the healing started. In the summer he was down to a terrifying 102 lbs. He is now about 109.5 lbs.
I mentioned supplements. Husband started to take these after a number of weeks, when it BMs appeared to be firm. Magnesium (Pure Encapsulations), Glutathione (Tesseract), Vit D K2 liquid (Pure Encaps), Vit K2-Mk4 (Thorne), Vit A liquid (Genestra); Vit B Complex (Thorne). Please keep in mind that my husband can tolerate soy (at least according to his Entero test). So we can't vouch for these supplements in that respect. Only that they work for him.
Wishing everyone on here a whole lot of good luck. You are in the right place! This forum is a total treasure.

Re: Diet, diet, diet!
I thought it was obvious, so I neglected to mention that husband cut out the basics like gluten, eggs, dairy, and all processed foods and beverages. He consumed no foods other than those listed above! That's it as far as diet goes. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Re: Diet, diet, diet!
Hello Lydia,
Thank you so much for sharing this helpful update. It's great to see that your husband is doing so much better now. I appreciate the kind words, but you should give yourself and your husband a lot of credit too, for having faith in the diet and the perseverance to stick with it and make the necessary adjustments as they were needed.
I wondered for a long time, why turkey, and some of the other foods didn't work. And then it dawned on me that his ancestry is located in a different part of the world, compared with most of us. That probably means that some of his genetics related to food sensitivities are likely to be slightly different, resulting in slightly different results. That made diet selection slightly more difficult, but it's great to see that as you tweaked his diet, it worked so well. Kudos to both of you for proving that even difficult cases can be resolved by diet changes alone.
I hope he continues to improve, and his remission never has any setbacks.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
