WHAT WENT WRONG?

Post by jennifer »

To everyone who has helped me and been my strngth the last 6 months,

i was Diagnosed with LC in Sept 2020.
Have been GF, DF, Sugar free, egg free since Sept, after just 2 weeks I saw a huge improvement.

I rotate the same foods everyday...turkey, lamb, chicken, red potatoes, white rice, mushy carrots/green beans, banana and 1 tbsp. of peanut butter and cook everything in coconut oil for fat.
For 5 months I did very well, soft bm x 1 every am, no gas, bloating, pain, or discomfort, but most esp no nausea, which was brutal on a daily basis.
My sleep has greatly improved!
I even put on 3 lbs. which I desperately need, as dropped 15 lbs. at diagnosis.

I was going to start phase 2 diet in March.
I said at the beginning I would give myself 6 months on stage one.

In February, the nausea returned, I changed nothing that I was doing in the last 6 months.
Now I am getting heartburn and rumbling in the intestines.
I can actually feel waves in my stomach where it bulges ?
Bm has not changed, still once a day, and soft.

I gave up the lamb and coconut oil as to not irritate the heartburn.
I haven’t had any heartburn since doing this, but I have lost 2 of the 3 precious lbs that I gained.
This is discouraging to say the least as I followed the plan to the tee and would never ever think of cheating as not to jeopardize my progress.

What went wrong, just when you think you are on the right track and ready to move to stage 2.....BOOM!!

I am only taking
Vit D – 1000iu
Ancient mineral magnesium lotion (oral has laxative effect) all day long, probably 600 mg or more

Vit D in February was 70
Magnesium RBC in February was 5.1

Any ideas from the experts? How do I get back on track, when I changed nothing in my diet?
What else could be going on?
Thank you,
Jen

A few random thoughts: Are you sensitive to soy? if so, the peanut butter may be the culprit. Any increase in stress? That can do it. We're very sensitive to stress. If you're actually absorbing 600 mg of magnesium (which is difficult to do). that might be too much, but a magnesium overdose would surely cause diarrhea, rather than rumbling, even when absorbed transdermally.

Thanks Tex,
I scored a 6 on soy in Nov. from Enterolab.
My overall for the 11 antigens was 9.
I've been eating a tbsp of peanut butter all along but if you think that could be the culprit, i will eliminate it.
No extra stress at all.
That was a guess with the magnesium as i put it on about 15 times a day? 4o mg per squirt, so who knows how much is absorbing?

With those results, peanut butter should be OK. Maybe someone else will have some suggestions. Sometimes we react without knowing why, while recovering, but in that case you should begin to do better soon. If you're not seeing a change in bowel movements, this might just be one of those random incidents with an unknown cause.

Are you eating the peel of the red potatoes? If so discontinue.

It is probably a long shot but I'd switch to one of the alternative nut butters just to see if that helps.
I think most of us are eating the nut butters.

I find Mg++ causes heavy diarrhea, so I never take it in pill form.
