Is anybody taking supplement? My NT suggested I use this to help heal the gut along with the Budesonide and Pro Biotic. I just started it and so far so good (meaning no problems) but it is rather expensive so I was wondering if it really seems to help.
Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Re: SBI PROTECT
Hi jcml12,
I don't have any personal experience with that product but in general, I'm not a fan of taking any GI supplements while taking Budesonide. I'm sure some GI supplements "could" be helpful but because of the varied ingredients and the many, many different strains of probiotics, you can just as easy upset the apple cart by taking one.
Vitamin D3 for me is the one supplement that is a must as MC is tough on vitamin D levels. I measure my vitamin D level every year and need a substantial supplement of D3 every day to keep it around 50-60.
My GI doctor (luckily one of the sharp ones as many are kind of clueless on MC) who studied under the Microscopic Colitis guru at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN (Dr. Darrell Pardi) said I should not take anything but Budesonide and vitamin D3 and of course be extremely religious about my very strict diet. Diet is by far the most important element in gut healing. Budesonide does seem to give your GI tract a jump start on that process by reducing GI inflammation. I have successfully used Budesonide with a very long slow taper twice now which resulted in remission both times for which I am extremely grateful!
I would certainly consider a trial of removing GI supplements. It can be very difficult to measure the efficacy of supplements.
All the best and keep us posted!
