I was reading through all the post's on BAM and was wondering, is there a test that will tell you if this is the problem? How did everyone find out if this was their issue?
Thanks!

BAM - BILE ACID
Collagenous Colitis, Benign Cramp Fasciculations in lower legs, Thyroid and High Cholesterol
Re: BAM - BILE ACID
I believe that European doctors have some tests, but U.S. doctors don't seem to have an diagnostic tests for BAM. Most patients just try a course of cholestyramine to see if it helps. It's a relatively benign medication. So most GPs are willing to prescribe it if the patient requests it. The primary side effects seem to be that in addition to bile, it also sequesters some nutrients, vitamins, etc., and lowers ones cholesterol level. The correct dose for a patient must be found by trial and error. Taking too little will not relieve the symptoms, and taking too much can cause cramps and abdominal pain.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thank you Tex for your reply. I guess it might be something to try.
