Hello everyone! Haven't commented in a while....but always reading thru the posts. My lc is in nuclear meltdown right now....no idead what set it off again. My current gi doctor told me that I'm a nice guy but there isn't anything else he is able to do for me.
Long story short....im on mesalamine for the 1st time and trying to see if that with chloyestrimine can help me. I am only eating steamed rice, turkey, and lean hamburger. Back to 6 small meals a day.
I am not having watery d, it is more like soft serve ice cream and it seems to have extreme urgency and I keep going till there is literally nothing left in my body. Usually around noon or 1 I start feeling normal again.
Started seeing a natural doctor who wants to use l glutamine and buytrene to heal my leaky gut. A Geneva test showed that almost all foods are yellow or red. Not good. Have also started epson salt baths.....
Any advice? Totally out of ideas. Feeling defeated.

Re: Back and still struggling
I so can relate to your post! I had been in remission for 6 years still being very careful what I ate but the stress of Covid (I also own a business) and that just took me over the edge. I have been struggling ever since. l glutamine helps with healing (I have been taking it for six yrs) but I cant take the buytrene. Gives me really bad gas! Everyone is so different. Its worth a try. Have you ever been on the Budesonide? That usually helps really well. It can lose its effectiveness which I am sort of going through right now but it was a lifesaver 6 years ago. The diet (which I'm sure you have read about) is really key. It is very deflating when you are eating right and doing all the right things and then because of stress (my case) or what ever in your case its back with a vengeance. Good luck and keep on keeping on!

Budesonide at 3 pills seems to stop me up to the point of cant go at all. 1 pill seems to not help at all....2 is a mixed bag of c and d. I can never find a happy medium.
This is why I'm trying mesalamine now...altho 3 weeks in and no difference at 2 pills a day. Doc said it could take 2 or 3 months to notice a change. I had to fly today so I'm back on pepto to get some control over it.

Have you ever tried colestyramine? Many MC patients who are unable to reach remission by following a careful diet have found that experimenting with their dose of colestyramine to find the optimum dose for them will bring remission. The Sandoz brand seems to be the best choice for most people. This works especially well if the problem is bile acid malabsorption (BAM), but it can also work in other cases.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi tex!
Yessir. I take 2 chloestrimine packets a day. They absolutly help in keeping the watery d away....but not the soft serve d. It seems I'm either over constipated or d....I can't ever seem to get the middle.
My sons speech therapists dad has lc and he was able to get better with the right amount of soluable and insoluble fiber. I have never tried that route.
