Re: Covid vaccine

Hi all,

I received the J&J vaccine 13 days ago. I am not a vaccine person, but I have seen too many close people struggle with this virus and several that I know have died from it. Anyway, my response to the vaccine with bad headache, shivering uncontrollably, gut wrenching pain along with constipation, fatigue, nausea, and body aches. I tell everyone that it was like the flu on steroids. I was very sick for 24 hours but better after 48 hours. My mom and aunt experienced no symptoms from it. My husband only had constipation, body aches, fatigue, and shivering. His lasted 4 days. I got J&J because I have allergies to meds and this was only one shot.

Now I see where no mass vaccinations are taking place with J&J due to the blood clot problems few people have experienced. That is kind of stressing me out but I will continue to monitor for those possible symptoms🤦🏼‍♀️...

Got my second Pfizer last Wednesday. I had 6 hour of chills the next day. I thought I would never get warm. I finally pulled my camping sleeping bag out that is rated to 20 degrees F and threw that on top of me and turned on my gas fireplace (I live in Florida). I had fatigue for about 4 days.

The boyfriend had some nausea the day after the vaccine.

Hi Martha,

This might ease your worries a bit. Of the six cases that were reported with the blood clot issue, in every case, the symptoms appeared between 6 and 13 days after the vaccination. So it's very likely that you're out of the woods at this point. You had such strong reaction symptoms that you've probably developed a very strong immunity against COVID-19.

I've also been reading they suspect the J&J blood clot issues may be linked to women on the birth control pills.
This is still a theory.

Hi all,

Wondered if my two cents would help here. I had my Pfizer jab on the 13th June. I had a sting like sensation on the needle being removed. My arm was sore and it seemed to make some muscles in my arm/shoulder sore so that I couldn’t move my arm in certain positions. After the jab the doctor who gave the vaccine advised me to take paracetamol in the evening and next morning, I had my dose at 13:00. The next day I had a headache, sore sinuses and felt tired but not like the tiredness and fatigue that I get with MC. I felt a bit sleepy but usually with MC I get very tired and sleepy. I think the vaccine upset my tummy too. Hope that may help someone, even if just for statistics on the forum.

For what it's worth, I have two friends who declined to get the vaccine. They lived only a few miles away. Currently, they're living in the intensive care ward of the nearest big hospital, fighting for their lives. The virus is slowly destroying their lungs. I'm not sure how things are going in other states, but in Texas, double lung transplants, due to the virus, are becoming more common than I would have ever imagined. Due to demand, I believe the waiting list is getting longer.

Here in Australia we only have AstraZ and Pfzier vaccines

the AstraZ has had numerous side effect issues can only be given to those over the age of 60 - and Australia are trying to offload supplies to south pacific countries
we dont have enough Pfzier stocks to do quality vaccinations and it will be another 2 months before they will have another boost of Pfzier stocks

various cities in multiple states are currently in lock down due to the 'delta' strain.
it has been confirmed that you need two vaccine doses to be protected for this strain.
only about 2% of the Aus population are fully vaccinated.

it is going to be interesting few months over here...

Hi Gabes,

Thanks for the update. Here in the US, the vaccine seems to be doing a good job, and currently, virtually all the deaths due to the virus are among the unvaccinated. Most cities are getting back to fully open and back to normal, as if the virus threat is past. But I'm afraid that when fall and winter arrive (we're almost in the middle of summer here, now), the delta variant and probably a few new variants, by then, are going to run amuck among those who remain unvaccinated.

We have certain areas of the country, where relatively large numbers of people continue to decline the vaccine. That's a real shame, considering that in many parts of the world, so many people would be thrilled to have that opportunity. The current administration claims to have sent many millions of doses to various parts of the world, but apparently, they haven't sent any to Australia.

Those who choose to decline the vaccine seem to have an almost endless list of reasons why they are making that decision, but basically, their position appears to boil down to a decision to prove to the world, how tough they are. I have to respect their decision — they've got a lot of chutzpah. Call me a coward, but although I thought I was invincible when I was young, as I grew older, and had a few close calls, It began to dawn on me that pretending to be invincible only works temporarily.

My husband is a respiratory therapist. He was in a meeting last Friday with an infectious disease doctor who told him that there were over 350 new cases of the delta strain/variant in Los Angeles. It is affecting younger people. They are presenting with lung and neuorological damage, eye issues (blindness) as well. As you said Tex, he is predicting a surge in the coming weeks/months.

Gabes- 2% is unacceptable and so wrong, when the supply is more then the demand over here, at least it is in Californa

Tex- That is very sad about your friends, hope they can pull through.

Tex, I so hope your friends are pulling through! So many in my part are refusing the vaccine. I am in hopes the CDC and our education system requires masks again for school aged children. My daughter is too young to receive the vaccine. It is getting very scary again!

I wanted to find out how long you think it takes your immune system to ramp up after having your wisdom teeth removed?? My boys are getting their wisdom teeth out in a week (at the same time) and I need to schedule their covid vaccine. I want to make sure their immune system has had time to recover from their dental procedure.

Gabes, I hope you were able to get the vaccine and everyone in your part are able to as well!

I received the J&J, so I am now worried about the delta variant. I had such a strong reaction to that vaccine, it was intense. My husband thinks we should try to get another shot, but I am not sure if enough info. is out yet about what to do.

I hope everyone stays well!
