 We're all different, and it could be due to a thousand different reasons.

Hi AGM,

When I am recovering from a flare it is not uncommon for me to be in the "semi formed" stage for 8-12 weeks before things firm up some more.

Healing takes a lot of time.

Roasted veggies would not be digestible for me in a flare. I would have to eat either 0 vegetables or boiled to mushy state veggies (like you feed a baby.)

Best wishes with our healing.

Hi Brandy,

Thanks so much for your reply, that makes me feel better.

I keep comparing to last time, but then I also can't quite remember what it was like (despite it only being 6mths ago). Lol In my head I feel like things got better much quicker, but who knows. I was also taking 2mg of Loperamide, which would've have made things appear firmer and this time I've only been taking 0.5mg (though I am back to 2mg as of 2 days ago now).

I seem to be ok with roast potato and sweet potato, as I use very little oil, but I do think I need more soft/soupy meals too and more rice, as some days I feel I eat too many veggies and that makes things softer. Then again, too much soup seems to be too much liquid for me too. Gosh, it is hard getting the balance right.

I need to up my meditation too. I always remember what you said about stopping to breathe for 5mins every 2hrs. I will try and do that, as I have been pretty stressed.

How often did you have flares in your early days? Oh and did the colour go off a bit too, like more yellow/orange? Sorry for such a detailed question. Oh and in that 8-13wk period, would you introduce any of your usually (from previous remissions) safe foods?

A strange question and sorry for tmi, but I've noticed that the first half of a BM is always worse (looser, stringier, less bulky and less formed) than the second half, like the longer stuff is there the worse it gets! Normally it is the opposite. I'm wondering if it could be because the majority of the inflammation is at the lower enend of the colon and so stuff hanging around there irritates the colon and it makes it looser etc. Could that be possible? It really seems like the less time it is there, the better. I've even had a couple of days this week in which I haven't gone for a day (which never happens to me...I've dropped my loperamide dose as a result) and the same still happens the next day!!??

You're right, it's usually the opposite. In cases with more than one BM per day, the first one will often be formed, and subsequent BMs will not.
