It’s just so frustrating. It seems like there is no way to tell when the flares happen and how to stop them. I don’t understand how I can have a very normal solid BM then immediately after have WD. I know stress plays a part. A huge part. But I just don’t know how I can possibly control that any more than I currently do or try to do. I also still have so much bloating. I haven’t eaten any gluten at all so idk how I am still having symptoms.

Keep a diary / use an app to track
as you said stress is a big trigger but there are so many more

first steps - mental emotional approach and acceptance
we can not avoid every trigger 100% - (ie give up perfectionism)
but we can avoid most of the big triggers most of the time
we dont control MC 100%, we can tame it and co habitat with it!!!!

second steps - monitor sleep quality, take some small steps to reduce stress /or implement things like meditation yoga etc to reduce impact of stress on the body

dont think that normal solid BM is the goal / milestone
i am 11 years post dx and my poop varies day to day!
remission for me is minimal symptoms, no poop accidents, no constipation

ps -gluten is not the main enemy - i react worse to soy than gluten.

Really work on stress relief:

Plenty of sleep
Yoga
Meditation/prayer
Laughter
Saying no to some obligations (and being okay with saying no.)
Sunshine
Live in the moment

A recent long weekend to Puerto Rico really lowered my stress level. I came back a new person.

Thanks for y’all’s replies. I truly appreciate it. I’m still so bloated. I’ve lost about +15 lbs since January from going paleo and getting off of the steroids. Still, I have diarrhea. Although it’s not as frequent as it was, I’m still having active state MC with >3/ watery stools per day. I just wish there was something that could help with the inflammation besides budesonide.

the best way to manage the inflammation is to avoid the things that cause it

deal with root cause, dont rely on band aids

As far as I know I have been avoiding all the root causes of inflammation. Gluten, dairy, eggs, soy. I just started a probiotic and I was taking digestive enzymes but those didn’t seem to help. I’m still having undigested food in my stool which makes it apparent to me I’m having digestive issues. I ordered betaine and got that in today so I’m hoping that it helps with the digestion piece. I haven’t eaten beef at all, sticking to turkey, lamb, fish occasionally and chicken. I gave up the bandaids in January and that’s why I’ve lost so much weight, although I’m okay with it to some degree because I gained about 20+ from budesonide and COVID stress. Just thinking out loud I guess. It helps for me to come here and air my frustrations and have a sounding board at times, even if I sound like a broken record. I appreciate y’all’s responses and I know y’all can relate that this condition is incredibly frustrating. But I refuse to let it win against me although it gets the best of me at times.
Hugs. ♥️

for some of us it, triggers can be more than food

are you having good serves of protein every meal?
are you avoiding / minimising processed gf items (breads / cereals)
what drinks are you having each day?

there are also the non food related triggers
- bathroom products
- stress and sleep quality

are you taking Vit D3 and magnesium?

as you have undigested food in your poop, are you having small serves of well cooked meals? minimal amount of ingredients each meal?
