I'm going to just throw this out there, but I reacted to olive oil. I can use it now in small doses, but back when I was diagnosed and healing, I couldn't use it at all. I had to only use coconut oil.

Hi Kberry,
Since I had a round of hives/wheals last August I feel it was like filling up a pot and it just took that one last thing to set it over the edge. At that point I had to double my antihistamines morning and night (per Dr. orders) it is ok to do that for a while to get things to simmer down.
I'm glad to hear that you have gotten them to quiet down, now it's time to seek out what the body has been targeting as far as histamine goes so that you can monitor it and not let it get the upper hand anymore. That is and has been kinda tough for me....but then all this is a learning curve so we do the best we can.
Hugs

Hi all,
Has anyone had issues with actual lumps on their neck or elsewhere? One lump appeared on my neck in October 2019 and another one appeared around April this year.

hi Amy,
If you're referring to lymph nodes, yes, that's common when the inflammation becomes widespread. I had a lot of trouble with that after I had been reacting for year or two, originally. I even developed temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.

Hi Tex,
I assume it is still prudent to get it checked out by one’s GP because of lymphoma?

Re: Swollen Glands/lymph Nodes Etc
I honestly don't know if there's any point to that, or not, because virtually all doctors don't realize that symptoms of that sort are associated with MC. Although I had many swollen lymph nodes, not just under my jaws, but all over my body, I never reported them to my doctor. If I had, I'm sure that he would have insisted that I had cancer, and ordered a bunch of tests. All those symptoms faded away after I reached remission with MC.
If my inflammation was still that severe, after changing my diet, I believe I would look very carefully, for evidence of cross-contamination of my diet by traces of gluten. Eating away from home, or eating commercially processed foods, or baked goods, makes it very easy for our diet to be cross-contaminated.

Hi Tex,
I’ll have another review but I’ve cut out pretty much all processed food! I’ve eaten out once or twice this year. Could a reaction be to another food than gluten? My boyfriend cooks a pizza at least once a week, his diet is normal but he eats the same dinner as me for the most part.

Re: Swollen Glands/lymph Nodes Etc
I am so sorry you are going through this. I recently got diagnosed. I have swallows glands too all over my neck. I too worried I had cancer, so I understand your fear. I had an ultrasound and was told they were reactive lymph nodes and no cancer.
Re: Swollen Glands/lymph Nodes Etc
Likewise! I’m glad that you were told the lumps are fine, it’s rather alarming isn’t it. Did any doctor or medical professional provide any further information?

No info about my lymph nodes at all. Doctors are very frustrating.
Re: Swollen Glands/lymph Nodes Etc
Hi
Lymph nodes are a way for the body to detox. Massage them help them get whatever they are trying to release from the body out. You have them in the arm pits, between the thighs, many other smaller places too.

Amy,
Regarding your question about reacting to something other than gluten: The answer to that is yes, some of us react to soy worse than most of us react to gluten, for example. So I'm guessing that there are probably some individuals who react to dairy products, or eggs, worse than most of us react to gluten.
Usually, when someone has a food issue that they are unable to discover, it turns out to be something that they are eating every day. Sometimes it's something that we've been eating (or drinking) all our lives, and because we're so used to it, we don't even consider it to be a problem, so it slips under the radar. It doesn't have to be a food, you know. It could be a supplement, a medication, a skincare product, cosmetics, shampoo, or something else in your environment, like licking envelopes before sending them.
Years ago, a member had violent reactions to the soap her boyfriend used. She never used that soap herself, but an intimate moment with her boyfriend caused her to react virtually every time. She discovered that he used soap that contained gluten. Once we slip into a rut, and we're reacting regularly, our immune system becomes hypersensitive, so that it's very very easy for something to trigger a reaction.
All my best,
Tex

Does anyone have a safe list of shampoos etc. After reading this post I started looking at some of my shampoos and cream rinse and I honestly don’t know what some of the ingredients are.
