Applesauce

Post by barbara21 »

Since my MC journey began I've been making applesauce - my "go to" for desserts, snacks, breakfast, anything. No sugar. Very healthy. Calming to the digestive tract. Very simple:

6-8 Honeycrisp or MacIntosh apples
Water - about 1/3 cup
Cinnamon, ground cloves and nutmeg

Peel, core and slice apples into thin slices and put into large pot. Liberally sprinkle with spices to your taste. Pour water over. Cover and cook for 20-30 minutes until the apples are soft, stirring occasionally. Mash with potato masher and let sit for 30 minutes.

I store in a plastic container in the fridge for use anytime. My go-to when my system is cranky or when I want a sweet treat You could use any other apple varieties, but Honeycrisp or MacIntosh are my favorites from a flavour standpoint.

You could eliminate the spices if they cause problems for you.

Enjoy!
