Hi mwt,

After I had my DNA done by 23andMe I learned my genetic type doesn’t take to kindly to Allegra (fexofenidine) so I chose to change it, the Zyrtec seems to be doing the job when I need it to. As my gut has healed I’m noticing I’m not needing as much antihistamine this Spring like I have these last 3 years 👍🏻

Ok, time to add another layer to myself in regards to experimenting.

Realize (to anyone new here) that I am at my 3 year healing mark.

I had to know just what my symptoms would be if/when I had been glutened whether by choice or accident so here is how it affects me.

May 20th, 2018
Ate a cupcake at my grandsons birthday

June 23rd, 2018
Ate a piece of home made spice cake at a reunion

Both times I did this it was on purpose so I could gauge what kinds of symptoms I get when in the presence of Gluten, and here they are:

Day 1. Nothing happened right away

Day 2. Light constant head ache (a bit of brain fog) and on the left side not my migraine side (right), beginnings of mild joint pain name the joint it doesn't matter. Uncomfortable lying down to sleep.

Day 3. Continued light head ache (some more brain fog), increased joint stiffness especially behind in the neck, elbows and knees - not a lot of aching pain just enough to know things were inflamed. Jaw at temples ached today. Still a bit uncomfortable lying down to sleep. Eyes a bit tired.

Day 4. Lower back top of hip joints very sore - ok to sit, but stiff upon standing and sore to the touch, head ache almost dissipated, neck still a bit stiff but not as noticeable, joints still a bit stiff, and now I have seeping at the base behind of the right ear (I think toxins just pick an ear to do this as it is random when it happens so now I put the Nano Silver gel on this and it goes away much faster). Eyes still a bit tired.

Day 5. No head ache, joints are doing much better, sleeping has been better the last two nights. Eyes still a bit tired but better.

Today on day 6 I ponder how identical these two glutened approaches have been and how uncomfortable I have made myself just to prove to myself that gluten really does affect me as a whole body and not just an individual area such as my intestines which ironically I did not have much of any "bad episodes or flare" after doing this, just many other body symptoms. I suspect this is how it presents itself BEFORE the intestines become inflamed, I would think its the body's way of trying to warn it that something is not right and to start taking precautions soon to stop it.

I'm just guessing it is this way, I could have it flipped around and the gluten protein just jazzes up the immune response as soon as it hits the intestines and then it sends fighter troops out to deal with it which is why everything gets hit with inflammation, the intestines are probably roughed up at this point then too.

I don't see myself performing this experiment again any time soon as these symptoms are not enjoyable, but now I understand myself a bit better so it has been helpful in this regard.

Hi Erica

Thanks for sharing this. I agree — I've never done it on purpose, but whenever I've been "glutened", my joint pains are my most prominent and lingering symptom. On the occasions when cross-contamination has crept into my diet, those same symptoms also appear (they may intensify more slowly because the dose is much lower) and if I don't discover the source of the problem within a few days, the antibodies will reach a trigger level and the diarrhea will begin.

Yes Tex,

My joints are the last lingering symptoms to begin to go away now, it may take another day or two to feel good again. It's even in my finger joints!

This symptom resembles what I feel gets diagnosed as Rheumatoid Arthritis in many people....it mimics exactly how that symptom is described by doctors.

It is November 2019 and since my last update to my story June 2018 I have explanted my breast implants (my decision way back in 2003 for cosmetic purpose). Jump ahead to July 2019 and since having them removed I have been seeing lots of inflammation leave my body.

I have dropped almost 10 pounds, I have way better energy, my attitude isn't so dumpy about life.

What I haven't changed is gluten or dairy, I still do not touch either of them.

What I have changed is I try a little chicken egg every so often and seem to do ok with it.

I am having More solid stool days than anything else than I have experienced in the past. I'm trusting that my intestines are still sensitive to certain proteins so as time goes on I am hopeful that some of that sensitivity will calm down even more.

I still experience histamine issues so am careful with too much coffee intake or any foods that have sat in the fridge for more than a day.

I guess what I'm reporting today is leaps and bounds ahead in healing as in comparison to how I felt when I first joined this group. Our bodies really are reacting to some sort of inflammation that we need to work hard being a detective in figuring out, otherwise the inflammation continues and it will impact the body every day perpetually keeping us in an unwell state as long as we live.

Here is to anyone reading this that hasn't looked at every aspect about themselves in pinpointing what their inflammation is stemmed from.

My heart goes out to you All!
I finally feel like I have hope in healing and recovering from my debilitation inflammation
Love
Erica

Hello, my Friends
It has been a while since I posted last time.I just wanted to update on how I am going after 6 years I was diagnosed with LC. I can say now that thanks to the wonderful people in this group I am fine. In remisión definitively ? I don´t know, but doing well for a long time.
Diet restrictions, gluten free, cereals and most of fruits, although I can tolerate bananas, melons, canned fruits like peaches and pears and half an orange a day with no issues.I can tolerate skimmed milk, hard cheese and soy.
No drugs for a year and fine so far.
I don´t post but I follow the Forum almost every day, learning new useful things.
Thanks to all who have helped me, especially Polly at the beginning, with her knowledge of cholestyramine, Tex ,the great man, amigo, Gabes, etc, etc.

You are always in my heart.

Well here I am after 6 years of healing....

I re-tested my gluten scenario since I've had my breast implants out and the verdict has been I did not present any symptoms, on day 2 I still did not present any symptoms. The only thing that I am noticing is some WD but as of lately this isn't an unusual thing right now. Still working on this and am now experimenting with LDN so an update to this will come in the next few months

What I do notice is Dairy is Scary! No dairy for me ever.....and I tried a PB&J and you'd thought I had filled my stomach with concrete I felt miserable so the Soy aspect must still be strong for me as well.

Now that I've had time to detox, my body is literally telling me that I need to stay Dairy, Egg, Soy free and Gluten probably shouldn't be ingested deliberately but it isn't going to cause me immediate issues "at this time". Who knows a few years from now though.

I want to address in this post that Hista-Resist does in fact help a lot when antihistamines don't seem to be doing their job very well anymore.
