Hello everyone,
I’m new here and wish I wasn’t Finally got a diagnosis after a nightmare of tests. So here I am. It does help knowing I’m re alone. And grateful for this site. Starting my new diet Fodmap thing. I guess we will see what works.
Anyway this weekend we are going on a pre planned day trip with friends. And truthfully
I’m terrified. I’ve had a few minor accidents where I just ended up throwing my underwear away I’m planning on packing extra clothes for the trip. I’m going to be on a boat and am afraid of a major blow out. Pretty sure it has a bathroom. I would appreciate any tips.
Also does anyone wear protection? Because I will if it will save me additional humiliation. Or If it is a waist of time and money. I can’t believe I’m saying this. I’m to old for this crap. No pun intended.
Thanks
Day trip
Re: Day trip
Hi Billy,
Welcome to the group. More than a few of us have used adult diapers as an insurance policy at one time or another. They won't handle a high-volume event, but they will definitely provide security against minor accidents. Imodium is also helpful in situations where you need to go out for a few hours, and you don't want to constantly worry about the location of the nearest bathroom. As you begin using it, you will learn to adjust the dose to provide protection, without causing constipation. It won't completely resolve MC, but it can certainly be used to delay those urgent bathroom symptoms for a few hours, so you can concentrate on your shopping, or whatever you're doing. It's a relatively safe medication, so it's usually safe to take up to 8 capsules per 24 hours, if you need that much, but don't take more than you need.
Again, welcome aboard, and good luck on your trip.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Re: Day trip
Thanks for the reply Tex. Been using about three Imodium a day and Kaopectate. The prescribed medication Is mesalamine, But I haven’t heard if my insurance will cover it as yet.
