Got My EnteroLab Results

Post by vespa317 »

I ordered the A1/C1, here's my results:

Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA 33 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-casein (cow’s milk) IgA 13 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-ovalbumin (chicken egg) IgA 5 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-soy IgA 6 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Mean Value 11 Antigenic Foods 12 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

While all of the foods tested can be immune-stimulating, the hierarchy of reactions detected were as follows:

Food to which there was no significant immunological reactivity:
Pork
Almond
Walnut
Cashew
White Potato

Food to which there was some immunological reactivity (1+):
Rice
Corn
Tuna
Chicken
Beef

Food to which there was moderate immunological reactivity (2+):
None

Food to which there was significant and/or the most immunological reactivity (3+):
Oat

Within each class of foods to which you displayed multiple reactions, the hierarchy of those reactions detected were as follows:

Grains:
Grain toward which you displayed the most immunologic reactivity: Oat
Grain toward which you displayed intermediate immunologic reactivity: Rice
Grain toward which you displayed the least immunologic reactivity: Corn

Meats:
Meat toward which you displayed the most immunologic reactivity: Tuna
Meat toward which you were next most immunologically reactive: Chicken
Meat toward which you displayed intermediate immunologic reactivity: Beef

So, it looks like I can continue to eat eggs, soy, pork, almonds, walnuts, cashews and white potatoes.
I've been doing the GF for about a month and things are getting better. Spicy things cause a long lasting reaction, so I've avoided them.

What do the rest of the numbers mean in the scheme of things?
I should probably be removing cow's milk products?
For the items listed as 1+ do these need to be removed from my diet as well? Or can I just put them into a rotation?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone is willing to give.

Lucky you, you came out better than most of us. Most of us are also sensitive to eggs and soy. That gives you a lot more food choices. I believe you interpreted the results correctly, so you should be on the right track. Yes, because of the positive casein results, you'll need to avoid all dairy products. Spicy foods cause virtually all of us to react while we're recovering, but after you've been in remission for a while, and your intestines have had some time to heal, you may be able to slowly add spicy foods back into your diet

Except for gluten, your numbers appear to be relatively low, suggesting that you haven't been reacting to those foods very long. With the relatively low score of 15 on the 11 other antigenic foods, yes, those foods in the 1 + category can probably be eaten on a rotation basis. It pays to keep a food and reaction journal to refer to, just in case one or more of them causes you to react. A journal makes pinpointing a problem much easier.

I hope this helps.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
