25(OH)D home test

Post by humbird753 »

Hi to Tex and everyone! I occasionally visit here to read, but this time I have a question. Since I take various supplements, I try to test my levels (especially with D3) on an annual basis or within 1-1/2 years. It has been a couple of years since testing and I'm overdue. Rather than going to a local clinic, I'd like to order a in-home test. I remember several years ago this topic came up for discussion, but I'm not finding what I need when using the search option. I am wondering if anyone does the in-home testing for 25(OH)D, and can anyone recommend where to order this from?

Any recommendations are appreciated. I'm still not used to the new format here. I will learn.....

Thank you

I guess mostly I'm wondering if one place to order from is better than another. Tks again.

Hi Paula,

Good to see a post from you again. As far as I can tell, most laboratories that base their tests on blood spot analyses probably show very similar results. I use ZRT laboratories, and I checked the test results on a blood spot sample taken a day or two before my doctor ordered a similar vitamin D analysis from the lab he usually uses. The results were identical. I use ZRT tests to check my vitamin D level twice each year — once about the middle of spring, and again about the middle of fall. If you're interested in trying ZRT labs, here's a link to their online store where patients can order directly:

https://store.zrtlab.com/

They offer many, many tests, so on that page, click on the blood spot tests, and then on the next page, scroll down to get to the vitamin D test.

I hope this helps.

Getting tested for D3 level a couple times a year is probably best. Thank you for that reminder.
