Wild rice?

Post by Sonia »

Is wild rice a safe grain? I'm sensitive to rice, corn, and potatoes. And gluten of course.

Hi Sonia,

if you're sensitive to rice, then you would probably react to wild rice, plus, it's loaded with fiber, when compared with white rice.

Ok, thanks. I'm not planning on trying it any time soon but I was curious since I believe it is a different plant.

While it's true that commercially produced rice varieties are not directly related to wild rice, they're cousins, so it's certainly possible (but not guaranteed) that you might be able to safely eat it after you've healed a while, but I would at least wait until I could handle the extra fiber.

It is tougher to digest than white rice.
