mesalamine rash

Post by AES »

I have been on mesalamine for 6 months. I had previously done a round of budesodine that caused a lot of side effects. While it corrected my MC for a while, it did not stick, hence the mesalamine.

While I have been on mesalamine, I developed a rash/pustules on my butt cheeks. The doctor first treated it as an infection. It returned, and he is thinking it is herpes. I am nearly 70 and have never had herpes symptoms. I did some research and ran across this which discusses rashes caused by mesalamine.

I have never had herpes symptoms before, sans a few fever blisters. I am wondering if the mesalamine could be causing my skin erruptions on my butt cheeks and am curious if anyone has had something similar. Thanks.
