Food ideas and help

I have been in remission for about 6 months. I am going to Disneyland in a week with grandkids, son and daughter-in-law and could use some ideas for food. I am staying at a place with a small kitchen where I can cook. Here is where it gets hard. I follow Paleo and cannot eat dairy, soy, gluten (of course) and grains. I am very sensitive to most artificial sweeteners and other ingredients that are in packaged foods. I am bringing many different things I can eat for snacks but quite a few have nuts which I am ok with but it is not good for me to eat nuts everyday as it seems to be hard on my system. Many heads are better than one and in the past you all have been so helpful with ideas. We will be at the parks for the entire day which makes it rough.
Any ideas would be so appreciated and thank you all in advance!

Why not eat what you usually eat? Can you eat chicken eggs? Hard-boiled eggs in a Ziploc bag make a handy snack. Many years ago, one of our members had a motto, "Never leave home without a pork chop in your purse."

as you will have facilities to cook - along the lines of what Tex suggested, eat what you normally eat.

- take pre cooked meals frozen that you can reheat to have for breakfast and dinner
( I find that if have a gabe safe good serve breakfast I can survive on minimal snacks during the day)

- cook safe items in the morning to take with you during the day, meats etc use a backpack to carry a small cooler bag to keep them at safe temp
If I am out for the day I take cold meats, avocado, GF SF DF frittata type snack that can be eaten cold

Disneyland is one of the best places to find food in spite of intolerances. They take food allergies VERY seriously as they serve so many people. Disney has an entire section about food allergies on their website and there are also several helpful blogs about dining at Disney by parents of children with multiple food allergies online. These are full of suggestions and worth checking out in advance of your trip.

I take many safe snacks in a small soft sided cooler, keep it in one of the lockers up front and fill in with the few options I have learned are safe for me. For example, the Bengal Barbeque in Adventureland will make a plain beef or chicken skewer without sauce, if you ask. The larger restaurants will serve a plain protein with no sauces or sides.

Disney restaurants ask about food allergies right up front and some have special menus indicating GF, DF options. They are big enough to have separate gluten-free cooking areas with special pans and fryers for gluten-free French fries, etc. for They never embarrass you if you are polite about it, and will even send out a chef to work with you on hidden ingredients (I have a quick reaction after “gums” or red pepper so they will double check labels for me.) Many restaurants will prepare foods more simply. Be sure to use the word “allergy” even if it is actually an intolerance for you—WHEN you might have the reaction is not the point here. 😬

All in all, you will be quietly eating some plain, safe snacks while your family around you is eating fun foods. But it will be so worth it to enjoy adventures with them! Have fun!

Hello. I hope you have a wonderful time! I've been to Disney World in FL a few times. I took almond milk & had a protein drink for breakfast, banana for snack. I ate tuna in a pouch when we were in the park (although I no longer eat because of soy). I had Epic bars & Nick's turkey sticks along for protein. There's a group on Facebook "Disney Chefs Rock Food Allergies" and lately people have bee posting that their kids got sick in Disney World even though they were supposed to be eating "safe" meals. I hope Disney Land is better than Disney World. I can't remember where we ate dinner, but we did eat at the Biergarten in Epcot & the chef walked me through the buffet to let me know what was safe (we wanted seating at the Candlelight Processional in Epcot & we had to choose a dining package & the only location left was the Biergarten).

Thank you all for the idea's. I cannot eat eggs as after my last flare up that was what kept me from having the D stop and then it was Duck Eggs as a few years before it was regular eggs. Tex was the one that suggested I stop the Duck eggs and low & behold, the D stopped. I know I am probably over thinking. There are many things I would just eat if I was in the condo or cook or heat up but it is hard to pack around lots of things. I thought of to go packs of Tuna this weekend. I am sensitive to Soy but I dont see anywhere on package that says it has soy in it for the person that posted that? It is just not a week where I want any problems so I want to be extra careful. There are some things people posted that are helpful so thank you all again. I was just coming up kind of empty handed.

Hi,
We go to Disneyland all the time.

I 100% agree with Harmony 33.

I bring my own food.

My daughter is also glUten free and she eats in the resturants with no issues.

You can either do what Harmony 33 suggests and use the lockers at the front gait, or carry your stuff with you.

I put in it ......sliced turkey, ham, banana, individual travel nut butter, sliced cucumbers, sliced peeled apples, walnuts etc,

You will be fine there, enjoy and have a great time!!
