Wedding Happiness
Hello. We're going to a wedding out of state next week and as I was thinking about what I'll take to eat it becomes overwhelming (we're going for 5 days). I texted the mother of the groom to ask if there will be any gf food. She replied that there will be for the main course as well as appetizers! I couldn't believe it. Her son recently had stomach issues and can no longer eat gluten (they're thinking he has Celiac Disease) so that was a blessing in disguise. They're having food stations which can be a nightmare for cross contamination, but I'm going to be very careful in what I choose. What other people taking for granted is a cause of celebration for us! I normally take my own food everywhere, but we're being shuttled to the venue and it will be different from having a car to keep things in. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Re: Wedding Happiness
Congratulations on (hopefully) being able to have a real meal at the wedding, and feel like a normal guest. There is a lot more awareness of food issues than there used to be, especially if the bride's family already is sensitive to that. Most caterers at large events are able and willing to take special needs into account if you ask, as it helps them compete for business. When my daughter got married (before I came down with MC), I remember trying to accommodate special needs. The venue was even able to provide a special kosher meal for one guest who was an Orthodox Jew.
Good luck, and enjoy!!

Re: Wedding Happiness
Thank you, Rosie. I am looking forward to being a "normal" guest and not the one who stands out. My son is getting married next month & my future DIL make sure the caterer has a gf menu. We already did food tasting & I was fine afterwards so I'll be able to enjoy myself there as well. Even without the food though, it's going to be a wonderful day!
