Hello everyone,
I was diagnosed with MC over 20 years ago. Until maybe 10 years ago I managed it reasonably well with diet and OTC products. Within the past 4 years MC has become immensely life altering. I recently sent my EnteroLab kit to the lab and am awaiting results. I know I have multiple food allergies which are triggers, so I am really looking to EnteroLab results which will surely ID additional foods or food families. AFTER I sent my lab sample to EnteroLab, I very reluctantly decided to take Budesonide. I am on day 10 of this Rx. I feel it is my one big hope to move forwarrd because I had committed already to refraining from eating known food triggers and triggers already specifically applicable to me.

Now my two questions. Any suggestions on things I could be doing while on the Budesonide to faciliate success while on this Rx. I believe getting sleep is one, as I type my message well after midnight local time.

The other question is where do I find the STAGE ONE and STAGE TWO diet recommendations?

There are typos that I will apologize for now in case I am unsuccessful in editing and correcting them.

From what I have read Magnesium and Vit D3 is also critically important.

I will be 82 in another month. Overall I am fortunate to be in good health and am enormously grateful for the many factors attributing to this fact. I am concerned about the nutrients of foods I eat not being adequately absorbed.

Hi,

Welcome to the group. Please don't be surprised if your EenteroLab results come back with some very high numbers for virtually every food tested. Antibody levels are cumulative, so that the longer we react, the higher those levels become.

The most important recommendations I can make regarding taking budesonide are to be very sure that you're avoiding every trace of gluten every day, and take the entire three capsule dose of budesonide all together at one time, first thing in the morning. That will maximize its effectiveness. That's true for any corticosteroid.

Here's a link that will take you to the Guidelines for Recovery:

I'm 81, and eat a very limited diet, so I take a lot of vitamins. I'm not sure they're all essential, but they must not be hurting anything, because I'm doing better than I deserve to be, for my age, my routine blood test results make my doctor smile with satisfaction, and although I have allergy issues, I haven't had a cold or flu in many years.

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

welcome
glad you are finding this group and information helpful

Tex has provided the link to guidelines for recovery

Vit D3 and magnesium are essential for many reasons, lowering inflammation, healthy bones, helping the immune system.

Regarding nutrients you may be surprised. I have had many general practitioners scoff at my low inflammation MC eating plan and supplement protocol and questioning that I can not have deficiencies. they do the plenthry of tests and viola, no major deficiencies for key nutrients!

as you are reviewing inflammation triggers - also look at the external items such as bathroom products, moisturisers, toothpaste etc

good luck with the diet and lifestyle revisions

Thank you both Tex and Gabe.
Your are both amazing! As are the numerous participants sharing on this forum.

As many people on this forum, I have been told, read, and tried MANY approaches and been seen by multiple practitioners. Each added value but the real value will be what I incorporate from each learning experience. And with the input and guidance on this site, I feel very hopeful, dare I say confident, that I will experience improvement to the point that I will be able take part in activities that were once my passion but are currently a treasured memories.

Fortunately, I acknowledge and realize healing however it will be defined for and by me has and will continue to require a very high level of commitment. And will take time. You can quote this back to me during my times of discouragement. One day I want to be one of the success stories, but for now each baby step forward will bring happiness. Thanks, again !!!
