Tinnitis/ Pepto Protocol
Hi all, I did about a month of the Pepto protocol, stopped because I was noticing a grey tinge to my tongue and, more concerning a mild ringing in one ear. Now three weeks later the ringing in that ear is worse. Can anyone hazard a guess if this will be permanent, or maybe (hopefully) fade with time? Thanks.

Re: Tinnitis/ Pepto Protocol
Hi Karen,
Our experience has been that normally, after the Pepto treatment is stopped, the tinnitus fades away. I've read somewhere that if it doesn't, the problem may be permanent. You might ask your doctor — he or she might have a different opinion, or something else might be causing the problem.
I've had tinnitus for 37 years. I've forgotten how long it took, in my case, but eventually, you get used to it, and don't notice it. Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Permanent was something I was hoping to avoid but if it is I hope I too can get used to it…. Thanks Tex, I hope you’re doing well.

Re: Tinnitis/ Pepto Protocol
Hi, Karen. I did the Pepto protocol for 8 weeks & I did not develop tinnitus. I have tinnitus now, but as I remember it started out of the blue while I was eating a coconut bar, not near the time of the Pepto protocol. It's only in one ear and I can ignore it most of the time. I'm sorry you developed it. Did you chew the Pepto? My GI told me not to chew because it would turn my tongue black. I swallowed the capsules with water. No tongue issues.

Hi Marcia, I had the chewable tablets but broke them in half and swallowed with water….. it’s definitely gotten worse the last week after stopping the pepto.
