RECOMMENDED SUPPLEMENTS versus CREON
I'm new - my first post - and so grateful to find this site. I've been finally diagnosed with MC and EPI after 4+ months of progressively worsening conditions, many tests, 3 Doctors and of course a colonoscopy.
The Nurse Practitioner at my GI has recommended 36000 units of Creon. I'm very reluctant to to to the pharmacy to pick up this drug because I feel it may be wasted with all the vomiting. It's nearly $1000/month and one of the side effects can be nausea and vomiting, which I already have ....
Wayne has been a Godsend. I've ordered the Diet Book, and 'get' that this has to start with cleaning up what I eat. Wayne also recommended Magnesium Glycinate to help with the Nausea.
Does anyone recommend a particular brand of Magnesium Glycinate ... I believe 300 MG per Day - Also Vitamin 3-D - any recommended brand? Ordering from Amazon, and lots of choices.

Hi Jessica
welcome to the group (and sympathies that you had to find us)
your post was in another part of the forum so I moved it to the main message board where it is more likely to get replies
I have not heard of Creon before so just googled it - It may help with cystic fibrosis or pancreatitis but I do not think it will assist with MC related issues
at this stage I would save your money
Doctors Best is a MC safe brand for Vit D3 and Magnesium
Regarding the nausea, eat small meals often, bland ingredients,

Re: RECOMMENDED SUPPLEMENTS versus CREON
Thank you for your reply. I will post only in the main message of the forum from now on, and thank you for the direction. I hope by simply replying this goes to the right place.
The Creon is for Exocrene Pancreatic Insufficiency. My dilemma is how to swallow these expensive pills and hold them down when taking almost anything is causing vomiting. Of course, I can't get the nurse to return my call, after prescribing the strongest dosage possible of Creon, which is only tolerated by about 44% of the people using it. This whole thing is so frustrating.
I appreciate the recommendation of Doctors Best and placed the order, hoping it will stop the nausea and vomiting.
Now I'm starting to question other supplements - Gummie Vitamins?? Glucosamine for joint relief in liquid form?? Oh boy I can barely read the small print of these bottles, but see things like corn syrup (Gummies) or Stevia Leaf Extract in Glucosamine and thing maybe these are more 'culprits' that antagonize MC.
Have diet book on order, and will attempt to follow it closely.

Re: RECOMMENDED SUPPLEMENTS versus CREON
Take some time to do some reading on the site
the members success stories area - you will see what others have done, what worked, what didnt
https://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=71
the guidelines for recovery section, we discuss supplements etc
https://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=79
for the majority, starting with bland diet and Vit D3 and magnesium works best. once there is less symptoms and some healing expand supplements from there
mainstream multi vitamins are borderline useless in early stages of healing. The ingredients are the non active forms and at a dosage that is very low
joint issues tend to reduce with low inflammation eating plan etc.
as I said I would not rush into the expensive pills just yet.

WOW! I just Googled this today after my first cousin once removed suggested MC and EPI could be related. She has it and takes Creon.

I use spray magnesium because I do not want any laxative "benefits" of magnesium.
I called the phone nurse at my doctor's office to see if any of the tests he did at my last appointment have anything to
do with my pancreas.
