Of course you may have read about the Mumps being on the rise again.... I was curious about something. When My Mother was pregnant with me she had a case of the mumps on both sides. Yhe Doctor told her that I was most likely Immune. Whether I was or not, I was as a kid exposed many times and never caught mumps. My own wierd brother had the mumps. Anyway, would I be still Immune to Mumps?
The report ofn t.v. said that is you are pre-1957 you most likely were exposed and should not worry, but the CDC said there were over 200 cases. I may be wrong in numbers as the news media can sometimes twist what Info they recieve to make it more exciting. Love Oma

There are a number of possibilities here. You may have had a very mild (subclinical) case that no one noticed. This is not unusual. If I remember correctly, any antibodies that you would have gotten from your mother would be passive and probably disappear within 6 months. If you really want to know for sure, you can have your doc draw a blood test for mumps titer.......this will tell you whether you have an adequate supply of mumps antibodies or not. If not you could get the mumps vaccine.
